Kumiko was appointed as the Head of Planning in 2018, becoming the first female Japanese leader in long history of JWT Japan.
Kumiko helped acquire new business from female brands such as Shiseido, thanks to her profound knowledge on female related insights both in Japan and from a global perspective. Kumiko is an essential core member to the JWT business, Kumiko’s strong and flexible leadership style made her Planning Division a symbol of “Thought Leadership” and diversity at JWT Japan.
Kumiko’s vision does not stay only within the agency. She provides information to drive changes in the Japanese conservative advertising agencies and a wide range of businesses to encourage many women. Kumiko incessantly receives requests on giving lectures and editorial contributions on gender stereotypes, which is making her to be one of the experts on gender related matters leading to further elevating JWT Japan’s credential.
